Under The Lights - Ultrachronic LIVE
Stef Evers, Colorado Music Buzz - June 2006

Ultrachronic, the self-proclaimed "sickest of the sick" quartet, rocked 3 Kings Tavern with Optimal Frequency and Nonhero on May 6th.  Accompanied by guest scratch master, D.J. Kaaos, the night offered a fresh twist on the band's already tight songs.  If the name of the band doesn't get you going, their music sure will!

Ultrachronic had a stage presence and energy that kicked off with the first song, "Asphyxia", and didn't stop until the band left the stage.  Front-man Kyle [Ingram] knows how to get the crowd jumping to the beats of their hip-hop influenced sounds, funky guitar riffs, and bad ass bass lines.  The song "Reason To Believe" offered vocals that mimicked Incubus' Brandon Boyd at the beginning and Faith No More's Mike Patton at the end.  Both vocalists are cited as major influences on Kyle's singing style and could be clearly heard in a single song.  "Riddle Me This" brought us back to a rap core sound that has been done before, but in this instance, done better.  We even got our political fix that night with the Rage inspired "Protect Your Rights".

It seems as if the rock, funk, hip-hop blend we call Ultrachronic is a band with a lot to say.  None of us could do without "Poolside", the beers and babes song that arrived just in time for summer.  Singer Kyle, guitarist D.Scott [Morris], bassist Dave [Crotser] and drummer Brendon [Speas] have something all their own, and that's a sound and songs that are truly unique to the Denver music scene.  Keep your finger on the pulse of Ultrachronic.  They're truly one of Colorado's best up and coming acts!

CD Reviews - Ultrachronic Demo (excerpt)
David Barber, RockOnColorado.com - November 2005

This self-titled demo CD from Ultrachronic showcases cool funky rhythms and urban style rapping. The retro-funky guitar riffing recalls some of the best stuff from the 1970s.... We look forward to hearing their next one.
